Refined Re-defined
Brothers Aly and Ru Cameron became bored with the cut and
thrust of the the commercial world and decided on a cunning and
daring plan. Throw it all in and move to Cornwall, open a
restaurant and see what happens.
Chef Aly had previously worked as head chef in restaurants
across the south of England, gaining recognition in most major
industry guides, including The Good Food Guide, The Michelin Red
Guide, and a star in Harden's Top UK Restaurants. Opening his
own restaurant was his dream.
Front of house, Ru, turned his back on a well-paid marketing
career in London to realise his dream. Ru had long posessed a
great interest in wine and beer, especially its consumption, and
relished the opportunity to further his knowledge in the trade.
Having moved to the loveliest place on earth and begged,
borrowed and stolen enough money to realise their combined
dreams, they came accross a dishevelled looking place above a
book shop in the middle of Falmouth... So they bought the lease
and created Ratho Wine Bar & Restaurant.
Seven months later, tired and beyond skint, on the seventh of
July 2007, they opened the now refurbished restaurant. The plan
was simple, to provide beautiful food, locally and sustainably
sourced wherever possible, all cooked by chef Aly on the
premises, and provide a fine selection of quality wines, beers
and spirits to suit all budgets. All in a relaxed and freindly
environment, with the least pomp and ceremony.
